Our Dash is home!
Yesterday we took the SS Badger to Ludington. As usual, we kicked heinder at bingo and won the trivia contest.
When we arrived in Ludington, Adam Lamb and his son met us at the landing and we went straight to the boat to practice. She was still on the hoist from being repaired, but the marina owner, Oene (who is awesome), lowered her right away. We drove over to Ludington Municipal Marina to practice getting into and out of a slip. Success! We put Our Dash away at the Lake Street Marina and headed to dinner.
This morning we got up at 5:15, prepped the boat, and pushed out of the slip at 6:27. There was a slight mist, but the water was like glass. No wind. After idling out of the harbor, we pushed her up to speed and crossed straight to Port Washington cruising at about 18 knots. The lake was smooth the whole way over, but cold. It was 38 degrees until we got close to shore. After about 4 hours, we slid into the Port Washington harbor and into our slip at the marina. With a little help from a neighbor and the marina hands, we were able to back her into the slip on the first try.
We spent a few hours on board to tidy up, begin installing our new bedding, and get some work work done.
So we’re home and ready to enjoy our first boating season!
