Milwaukee: A New Air Conditioner

We’re not officially on the Loop yet, but we’re getting ready for it. Today, we headed down to Milwaukee to have one of our air conditioners replaced. We are definitely on boat time here: this was 8 months in the making. We left on a picture perfect afternoon for the short cruise from Port Washington to MKE. Most boaters on the Loop will stay at the McKinley marina. We went just a teensy bit south of that to CenterPointe Yachts. They kindly let us stay over with their power and water hookups ahead of our Tuesday appointment for a half-day job to put in our new air conditioner.

Monday night, we walked to La Merenda, just a short walk from CenterPointe. They were busy on this Monday night, but they had room for us to sit and eat at the bar. They offer small plates, and we shared watermelon and feta salad, a small cheese and meat platter, pork belly, chicken curry, and a slice of tres leches cake. Oof. My cocktail of the night was a Brass Monkey, which contained Twisted Path dark rum, pineapple juice, campari, St. Elizabeth Dram, simple syrup, and lime juice. It wasn’t my favorite at first, but it grew on me.

This was our first night on a wall, but the lake was so smooth that we barely felt anything except the couple large ships that went by through the night.
