It was a busy day in the Port Washington Marina. This morning, the Coast Guard Auxiliary did free inspections for anyone who was interested. They checked for fire extinguishers, proper safety equipment, lighting, and paperwork. It only took a short time, but the guy who did it was super friendly and just wanted to make sure we were compliant in case the Coast Guard ever wants to check us out.
The marina had an open house today where nonresidents could walk up and down the docks and look around. We talked to a few people, including some from our hometown, about our boat and the Loop. Noteworthy milestone: we handed out our very first boat card. Also, free hot dogs today. Owen was happy.
After that, Owen went and worked on his dang dinghy project, which seems all cool and boaty. Meanwhile, I worked on a toilet project. The seal on the aft head was causing water to drain out of the bowl when it wasn’t supposed to. I watched a 15-minute video on YouTube and decided I could do this myself. It took me more than 15 minutes, but I did it. The part was $72.99 at West Marine. Just $15.99 on Amazon.
