Green Turtle Bay to Clarksville: Dreary Labor Day Weekend

It was time to say goodbye to Green Turtle and hello to our side trip. We’re going to Nashville. It’s just over 160 miles to our destination, and we decided to make it a two-day trip.

We planned to leave at sunrise, but it was raining pretty hard when we woke up. We slept for another hour, and tried again. It sprinkled on and off throughout the day, but never uncomfortably. We sped up to 2400 rpm for the first hour to make up some time, then eased back to a more fuel-efficient 1700 rpm the rest of the way.

Traffic on the rivers and lakes was sparse, and we felt like we were on our own. We pulled into Clarksville in the afternoon and fueled up. The entry to the marina is very shallow. We were instructed to stay as far starboard as we could. We were assigned a covered slip (our first ever!), and we quickly settled in.

Clarksville is a nice little town, and the marina is surrounded by a cool park with walking trails and a pond. There were restaurants nearby, and we were treated to an amazing sunset.

Clarksville was a bargain, as well. Just $37.50 for our 45- foot boat with our Boat US discount! Diesel was $4.059, minus 10 cents per gallon with the discount. Definitely cheaper than Nashville!

We were happy to meet some of our boat neighbors, and we are eager to see them again someday!
