Nashville: A Week Downtown

We were in Nashville Monday through Saturday morning. Owen worked the weekdays, then went out and about for dinner and or whatever in the evenings. The dock was in a great location. The gate was not obvious to the normal passersby, and it was far enough away from the shore to prevent any shenanigans from ne’er do wells (how often do they do well? Ne’er. NE’ER!).

We did have a little issue with power. We knew coming in that only a couple of the power pedestals worked. Of course, we chose the wrong one at first and had to move the boat. Then on Thursday at 4:00 pm, the power went out. It turns out there was some disagreement between the power company and the dock about the pedestals, and the power was shut off until they could sort it out. Unfortunately, they didn’t tell the dock or the boat on the dock that they were going to do it. So we were without power from Thursday to Saturday. It was fine. We have a generator, and the dockmaster refunded our power fees for the week. So if you do plan to make the trip to Nashville, figure out the power situation before you go, or plan on using your generator. We were fortunate that the weather was perfect for leaving the windows open.

This was not our first trip to Nashville, and on previous trips we had done all the responsible, mature things like museums and historical sites. This time we stuck to downtown and places within walking distance. One day, I did a free self-guided walking tour of downtown Nashville. We were pretty low key. We did a couple escape rooms at The Escape Game. These were some of the best escape rooms we have done. (At this point, I feel we must make an apology to our escape room friends. We feel like we were cheating on them by going without them. Please accept our apologies, Matt and Amy.)

We listened to a lot of music during the week. A shoutout to the drummer from a band at Tequila Cowboy for doing a version of U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” that was at least as good as the original.

Tuesday Downtown Nashville is very different from Friday Downtown Nashville, and we realized that Tuesday is very much more our speed these days. Friday was very crowded and drunk. We were not. But it was still a great time, and people were having a lot of fun.
