The week during which Wendy learned to spell “rendezvous” without having to think about it. That “z” and where it goes!
First, the park. This place is a little bit of heaven on a lake and a couple rivers. The park has a marina, a campground, cottages, and a lodge for people who want to stay. The campground was destroyed by a tornado in 2019 and is being upgraded from its 1974 original self to the “Cadillac of campgrounds,” according to our tour guide, Garry, who gave us a ride to town one day and showed us around town.
There’s a golf course, hiking trails, a boat landing, tennis courts, a disc golf course, and a beach. There are day use pavilions on site. The lodge has a restaurant and a conference center. The park is on a lake and a couple rivers. It’s gorgeous.
We arrived for the America’s Great Loop Cruisers Association Fall Rendezvous. It was, I think, their first in-person event in two years, which was a long wait for an organization that normally has several events each year. It was worth the wait. At dinner on the last evening, we were told that the marina slips sold out 4 minutes into registration! We were lucky to get one.
The event went from Monday to Thursday and was filled with seminars for Loopers and Loop planners. We had done many of the planning seminars before, and we were excited to do the route segment sessions this time that are specific to the areas we will be traveling for the next 7 months until the next event in May. A highlight of the event is the Looper Crawl, where some attendees who came by boat opened their boats to visitors. It was nice to see how others set up their boats, and the crawls are invaluable to people who are trying to buy their Loop boats.
In our free time, we went for a hike and a couple of dinghy rides. The weather was great on all days but one.

One night, we ate from a band and listened to a food truck. Or something like that.
The cow may have mooed when Owen bit into this prime rib.
